Adobe releases Lightroom 3 Beta 2

The beta 1 version of Lightroom 3 has been out for awhile, and now Adobe has improved upon that with the beta 2 release. In this video from Julieanne Kost, you’ll learn more about the new features found in Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta 2

Improvements experienced after moving from beta 1 to beta 2 with my favorites bolded:

Improved performance throughout the application for faster importing and loading of images
Native tethered shooting support for select Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras
Luminance noise reduction has been added to the previous color noise reduction improvements available in the first public beta for outstanding overall high ISO quality
Support for importing and managing video files from DSLR cameras for better overall photographic workflow control
Improvements to the import experience in the first beta to reflect public feedback
Improved watermarking functionality from the first beta to reflect public feedback

Spotlight Photograph: Sunrise Over Mirror Lake

Today’s Spotlight Photograph is “Sunrise Over Mirror Lake”. This photograph was created early on a chilly, late winter/early spring morning in Lake Placid New York. Back then I was shooting with a Nikon D100. While I really liked this camera, it did exhibit quite a bit of noise in the shadow areas of images. Because of that tendency, I had trouble creating a clean image of the scene below. Now, several years later, I’m shooting with a NIkon D700 and D300 and don’t need to worry all that much about noisy images.

Recently, with image processing software advancing to their current capabilities, I began to wonder if I could do anything with some of my old D100 images that I had previously written off. Below is one of my old D100 images that I ran through Adobe Lighroom 3 Beta and Adobe Photoshop CS4 last week-end. I think the results turned out pretty good.
